Amanda Whitaker's Qualifying lap in her TIGA SF78 Formula Ford 2000 at Croft for the 'Nostalgia Weekend' on 7th August. She loses a good chunk of time overtaking another car at 'Sunny' corner, but the lap was good enough for 4th on the grid, despite a down on power engine.

Onboard video of Amanda Whitaker's race start, showing the first incident with Westie Mitchell. Amanda gets a good start and Westie (red Merlin) also gets away well, drawing ahead of Pole Man Simon Hadfield (white Lotus). Westie finding himself offline & loses momentum falling behind Hadfield. Amanda draws along the inside rear of Westie and changes up a gear but as they near the exit of the corner, Westie misses his gear change from 3rd to 4th & instead selects 2nd, the revs rise and the rear end of his car locks up, pitching him straight into the path of Amanda. The shock of the incident causes the video to cut out. After this collision, Westie is then collected by Diogo Ferrao & they are both pitched heavily into the barriers at high speed. Amanda then continues but has a seperate collision as she misses sight of the slowing David Wilds on the start finish straight as the race is red flagged. Amanda would like to make it clear that she in no way blames Westie for this incident and wishes him well on the road to recovery.
An unbelievably lucky escape for Amanda Whitaker in the Historic Formula Ford 1600 Championship at Mallory Park. After a lap 1 coming together, not of her making, with championship leader Westie Mitchell, Amanda's nose cone, on her Peter Hampshire designed Elden Mk8, becomes dislodged, obscuring her forward vision. Westie has gone off badly at the exit of Gerards Bend, and as the leaders complete lap 1, race control throw a red flag to stop the race, only a second or two before the pack arrived at full tilt to start lap 2. As it was, unsighted, and with miliseconds to react to the red flag, Amanda collides with the car in front, and is launched into a terrifying series of sommersaults and barrel rolls along the start finish straight. That she walks away, shaken and bruised, but thankfully with no broken bones, is a testament to the strength of her car, even with 39 year old design technology. After initial concern for Westie Mitchell, he too was also not too badly hurt in the race stopping incident, suffering a broken wrist and some vertebrae damage. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Amanda Whitaker's onboard video from HSCC Historic Formula Ford 1600 race on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. Amanda wins the race in her Elden Mk 8 JUST from Westie Mitchell! Amanda qualified 4th - she was on provisional pole position but an engine problem relegated her. Her Amaron racing team changed the engine and got her onto the grid with just moments to spare. She makes a good start to grab the lead into Druids hairpin. Westie (red Merlin) slots into 2nd position but can't make any impression on Amanda for the first half of the race. However, he gradually closes the gap & goes past when Amanda's car jumps out of gear as she hits a kerb (Graham Hill bend). However, Amanda retaliates at Paddock Hill bend the following lap and despite Westie trying hard to get back past, Amanda holds on to win by just one tenth of a second. The pair are seperated by just 4 points in the championship (after dropped round) at time of writing.
