Engine problems at Cadwell

Posted by Amanda Whitaker on May 16, 2010 at 10:05 PM

Following her dominant display at the Croft season opener, Amanda had engine problems at Cadwell Park Classic Formula Ford 1600 championship in her Elden Mk8, leading to a non-start for the race.

At the start of testing on Friday, she noticed low oil pressure on her gauge on her 'out lap' and she had to switch her engine off & coast back into the pits to avoid damaging the unit.

The engine was replaced with a spare for Sunday's qualifying, but that too developed a problem and she switched her engine off mid-lap and was unable to complete the qualifying session. Being unable to detect the problem, the decision was made to retire from competing in the race to prevent further damage to the engine.

She next races in her Swift SC93 Formula Ford 1600 at Oulton Park on 31st July.
